Clinical Training

Dr. Manfield was trained by Dr. Francine Shapiro, the originator of EMDR, in 1991. He has been a faculty member of the EMDR Institute for roughly twenty years and is a past facilitator for the EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Program.  Dr. Manfield is a contributor to both Extending EMDR: A Casebook of Innovative Applications (P. Manfield, ed.) and the Journal of EMDR Practice and ResearchIn addition, he is a founding member of the EMDR International Association and is the EMDRIA Regional Coordinator for Western Oregon. He has facilitated trainings worldwide and also has lead a consulting and supervision group for advanced EMDR clinicians since 2001. In addition to EMDR, Dr. Manfield is trained in family systems, marital, IFS and Gestalt therapies. He is particularly interested in ego state work and the enhancement of object relations and attachment.
